Palestinian policePalestinian hospital officials said a West Bank villager has been died in a clash between local residents and Palestinian police. Tuesday's shootout was the first violence since Palestinian forces deployed in the area last weekend. On Saturday, 600 PA policemen were deployed in the district in an attempt to restore law and order.

 

Officials said it's not clear who shot the unarmed 21-year-old man. They said after he was hit he was on life support at a hospital, but later died of his wounds. According to the AP, police commander Suleiman Imran conveyed gunmen shot at his men as they took up positions in Qabatiya village. The Islamic Jihad satated villagers hurled bottles and stones at the police after the man was shot.


Medics said police later shot two stone-throwers in the legs.
