Gaza: Three Fatah members sentenced to death
Posted: 24-05-2009 , 12:49 GMT

fatahA Hamas military court in Gaza Strip on Sunday sentenced three former Fatah security agents to death by firing squad for the 2007 killing of two journalists at a pro-Hamas newspaper. According to the AP, the killings took place two years ago during clashes between Fatah and Hamas.

The Interior Ministry in Gaza announced the death sentences on its Web site, claiming defendants Shadi Madhoun, Riyad Magossi and Shadi Ahmad were guilty of other unspecified crimes as well.

The men were accused in the deaths of Suleiman Ashi, an economics editor for the Felesteen newspaper, and Mohammed Abdo, a manager at the same publication.

According to press reports, Ashi and Abdo were dragged out of their taxi and shot dead at a Fatah roadblock in Gaza City.
