Syria: 2010 budget up by 10%

Naji Ottri - Syrian PMThe Syrian Cabinet approved the General Budget bill for the fiscal year 2010 at SP 754 billion (some US$14 billion), say an increase of 10% in comparison with 2009. During its weekly meeting on Tuesday, the government also approved  the relevant tables prepared at the Ministry of Finance after being agreed upon at the Higher Planning Council and the government's fiscal statement on it.

 

According to SANA news agency, SP437 billions (US$8.5 billion) of the general budget are assigned for current spending while SP327 billions (US$5.5 billions) assigned for investment spending. The bill will be referred to the People's Assembly before the end of the current year, to be discussed and endorsed in its final form within the constitutionally authorized time frame.

 

The Cabinet also approved the regional planning law that states forming the Regional Planning Higher Council and the Regional Planning Commission that is in charge of regional planning affairs in the governorates.
