TURKISH PATROLThe Turkish army said 15 of its soldiers have been killed in southeastern Turkey in an attack by Kurdish gunmen based in northern Iraq. According to the AP, the military said the overnight attack involved heavy weapons fired by the gunmen at a Turkish military outpost in Aktutun, Turkey.

The private TV station CNN-Turk reported the Turkish military fought back, killing 23 Kurdish gunmen. Turkey's military confirmed in a statement that its soldiers did return fire, killing some "rebels."

It appeared to be the deadliest attack by Kurdish rebels against Turkey's military in several months.
