Dubai-Osaka Economic Partnership Forum opens in Japanese city of Osaka
Posted: 19-12-2005 , 11:19 GMT

The Dubai-Osaka Economic Partnership Forum, aimed at strengthening the business relations between the two cities, opened today (Tuesday, 20th December, 2005) at the Japanese city of Osaka, with Dubai inviting Japanese companies from across the business spectrum to explore the investment opportunities offered by the city.

The three-day forum and exhibition will witness a wide-range of discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between Dubai and Osaka, and will serve as a networking platform for leading companies from key industries such as manufacturing, electronics, real estate, infrastructure, construction, automotive, tourism and finance.

Mahmoud Saleh, Executive Director of Shared Services and Secretary General of The Corporate Office, who is representing Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone (PCFC) as one of the organizers of the forum, gave a presentation highlighting the remarkable growth of Dubai as well as the opportunities the city offers to overseas investors.

“Japan and the UAE share a long history of close trade relations, which is amply reflected in the burgeoning ties between Dubai and Osaka,” said Mahmoud Saleh. “Through this forum, we seek to generate greater awareness among Japanese companies, particularly those based in Osaka, about the investment opportunities offered by Dubai. We are highlighting the important role PCFC is playing in the economic development of Dubai, with a special focus on Jafza and DP World.”

“PCFC will also showcase Nakheel’s iconic property developments such as The Palm, The World and Dubai Waterfront, which are fast transforming the landscape of Dubai. These projects have already attracted considerable international investment, and the unique advantages they offer will be highlighted to Japanese investors at the forum,” Saleh said.

“There is already a marked trend among several Japanese companies to expand their presence to the Middle East or further strengthen existing activities in the region. Dubai has emerged as the location of choice for most of these firms, as it offers the best value proposition for foreign investors. Through our participation in the Dubai-Osaka Economic Partnership Forum, we aim to attract more Japanese investments to Dubai,” Saleh added.
