Under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Second Aqaba International Air Show will be held today, organized and hosted by the Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), in collaboration with ASEZA.

For the second consecutive year, the world renowned British Red Arrows and Jordan's highly-admired Royal Falcons, will be demonstrating the most amazing aerobatics above the shores of Aqaba.

The air show will begin at 03:00 pm and will combine the expertise of the Royal Jordanian Falcons and the Red Arrows in a 45 minute performance of various high speed and death defying maneuvers over Aqaba's northern beachfront.

Acknowledged as one of the world’s premier aerobatic teams, the Red Arrows will be flying the BAE Systems Hawk T. Mk.1. aircraft, considered the world’s most successful advanced jet trainer.

A press conference for the event was organized today by ADC at the King Hussein International Airport (KHIA), headed by Eng. Imad Fakhoury, ADC Chairman and CEO and attended by Dr. Majid Al Saadi, Chairman of Eastern Investment Group Holding (EIGH), the group which is developing the British University of Aqaba, Dr, Bilal Al Bashir, Deputy Chief Commissioner, Commissioner of Environment at ASEZA, Captain Jason Hawker of the Red Arrows, Captain Mohammed Al Momani of the Royal Jordanian Falcons, as well as local and regional media representatives.

Fakhoury said, "The second annual air show complements ADC's efforts to promote aero sports in Aqaba both to local enthusiasts and to an international audience. Following the success of last year’s show, we expect to attract a lot of tourists and members of the general public to watch the show.”

Dr. Al Bashir said, “ASEZA is glad to host the International Air Show for the second consecutive year. The event is one of the most important international-events in the region and is part of the Tourism Marketing Strategy of ASEZA, which includes placing Aqaba on the international tourism map by positioning the city as an ideal destination for the growing and hugely influential and visible international MICE industry.”

Dr. Al Saadi of EIGH expressed his support for ADC, stating that "Our Group strongly believes in the importance of promoting Aqaba as a tourist destination locally and regionally and strongly supports the efforts made by ASEZA and ADC in this regard." He added, "The establishment of the British University as one of the main development and investment projects in Aqaba will enhance the educational tourism sector which will positively impact the local economy, falling in line with the master plan for Aqaba.”

EIGH/British University of Aqaba is the platinum sponsor of the air show, Jafar Jewelry is the gold sponsor and the two media sponsors are Fann FM and Future Vision.

Aqaba's visitors can enjoy the breathtaking show from any location on Aqaba's northern beachfront.
