Dubai Customs develops Customs Intelligence

Dubai Customs has announced that it is about to complete the development of the Intelligence Department work by launching a Risk Management Unit, and this is one of the key objectives of the Reform and Modernization Program which Dubai Customs tries to achieve based on its strategy for the years 2007-2011.

The launch of this unit comes in alignment with the new concept of the Customs work because of its ability to contribute to the production of new mechanism for the Intelligence Department which helps in facing the constant growth of the international trade volume and developing the Customs ports exit protection techniques.

Dubai Customs had already started preparing for the launch of this unit during the meetings of the WCO council last June where Dubai Customs Director General, Mr. Ahmed Butti Ahmed has held many bilateral meetings for this purpose, in particular with the Director General's assistant of the Dutch Tax and Customs Department, Mr W.Rumferz which led to an agreement on mutual visits and cooperation.

In completion to those meetings, Dubai Customs has received yesterday a delegation from the Dutch Tax and Customs Department led by the International Affairs Director, Mr. Kusuwriter who was accompanied by two experts from the Risk Management. During the coming days, the delegation will examine the course of work and the procedures applied at Dubai Customs so as to get acquainted with Customs capabilities and methodologies related to the Intelligence Risk Management  relative to Customs Cargo Operations and will help afterwards in building the Customs employees capabilities relative to the Intelligence work and benefiting from the constant availability of information knowing that the employees' major task is to diagnose the case and the source of information, benefit from the available data and then try to use it and analyze it in a scientific and profound way relying on the Risk Management.
