‘red dot’ founder to inspire Mid East product designers at Index
Posted: 20-11-2008 , 08:51 GMT

Dr. Peter Zec, who is credited with initiating the prestigious international award-winning ‘red dot’ product awards, will address the region’s brightest and most creative designers at Index 2008, the largest interior design trade fair in the Middle East. In addition, red dot will also display their top 100 products ‘best of the best’ for the first time ever in the Middle East at a special reception on Saturday 6th December.

“We will be showcasing exceptional product design from around the world, all winners of the red dot global award for high quality, outstanding design, functionality and aesthetics. These designs are the best of the best,” said Dr. Zec

The red dot is an internationally recognised quality label for excellent design, selected through the 'red dot design award' competition in the fields of product design, communication design and design concepts. The awards go back to 1955 and are among the most renowned design competitions worldwide. The awards recorded more than 7,000 entries from 60 countries during 2007 alone.

“This is a real coup for Index, we have an exclusive arrangement for the top award-winning designs from red dot, which covers all industry sectors to be unveiled for the first time in the Middle East. Hopefully it will inspire regional ‘creatives’ to enter their designs for the chance of being recognised as a ‘red dot’ winner, something that has eluded the region’s designers so far,” said Kim Willis, Exhibition Director.

Index is the largest interior design trade fair in the Middle East, featuring nearly 2,000 exhibitors from 56 countries. The 18th Index fair will take place from 3 – 7 December 2008 at the Dubai International Exhibition & Conference Centre.
