AirbusAirbus Middle East has signed a long-term contract for the provision of Repair Shop, Storage and Office facilities to Asscom Middle East.

Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Asscom offers a large variety of Customer Support Services for aviation component and system suppliers on a worldwide basis. In its Middle East Service Station, Asscom will cater all aspects of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) product support needs – from 24/7 emergency spare parts supply to the establishment of warranty and commercial repair services.

The new Asscom premises include a state-of-the-art avionics and electronics repair shop as well as office and storage facilities for OEM’s equipment and systems.

Peter Wiggers, Managing Director of Asscom, said: “We are enthusiastic to be on board in Airbus Middle East and to provide our services from Dubai - a spot offering so many unequalled opportunities”. He adds:  “With our new Service Station in Dubai we will be able to provide outstanding Customer Support Services On-Site, to both Airline Customers and OEM’s as well”.

Joerg Helmerichs, Senior Director of the Airbus Material and Logistics Centre, said the signing of the contract marks the beginning of a long-term commercial relationship between the two companies. “We are proud for having Asscom Middle East to be on board of our Vendor Village, a partnership that strengthens Airbus’ commitment to serve our Airline Customers in the regions Middle East, North Africa and India”, he added.

The Airbus Material and Logistics Centre at the Dubai Airport Free Zone opened in April 2008 has given Airbus closer access to airlines customers and created a quicker response to their needs. Covering more than 3,700 square metres of floor area, the centre operates 24 hour a day, stocking more than 5,000 parts and 43,000 items at any one time for distribution to regional and worldwide destinations.

Airbus is a leading aircraft manufacturer with the most modern and comprehensive family of airliners on the market, ranging in capacity from 100 to more than 500 seats. Over 8,700 Airbus aircraft have been sold to more than 290 customers worldwide and more than 5,000 of these have been delivered since the company first entered the market in the early seventies. Airbus is an EADS company.
