Karate Champions take the stage at Modhesh World

Implementing the strategic plan of Dubai Sports Council, Modhesh World Sports Zone is at the forefront with activities in abundance. On 18 June, the players of the National Karate Team, who are also members of the Al Ahli Club performed a special display of karate at the Play and Compete Interactive Stage.

Dr. Ala Halawish, Technical Coach, Captain Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Coach and Mr. Yaser Mohiuddin, Technical Secretary, who were honored at the ceremony, echoed each other’s sentiments that it felt good to see the hard work of the National Karate Team being recognized and that performing on the Modhesh World Stage was an enriching experience, as they could share the sport with those who may not be aware of it.

Yousif Mubarak, COO of Dubai Shopping Festival Office, and Ali Muttawa, Director of Institutional Resources, Dubai Sports Council, gave away the prizes to the coaches as well as the Karate champions.

Players Abu Bakr Salem, Issa Basel, Mohammed Saleh, Mustafa Ziad, Mahmmoud Basel, Murad Ziad, and Mohammed Ziad, who were a part of the ensemble that performed, are all champions in their own rights. Kata which is a solo display of Karate was performed as well as demonstrations of a dual fight.

The Al Ahli Club has been honored by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Awards. Thirteen members of the National team from different categories in Karate make up the Al Ahli Club.

Modhesh World doors open at 10.00 am – 10:00 pm on weekdays and from 10:00 am – 12 midnight on Thursdays and 3 pm – 12 midnight on Fridays. Tickets to the venue are priced at AED 10 - adults and 15 for kids with numerous free games and rides.
