The Syrian director and writer of the drama series “Asmahan,” about the late great singer Asmahan Mamdouh Al Atrash has renounced the drama series, aired on various Arab satellite channels. 
The writer, Mamdouh Al Atrash, asserted that the personality of Asmahan was portrayed in a vulgar manner, as well as other characters, like her mother Alia Al Munther and her brother Farid Al Atrash.
Mamdouh, the art supervisor of the drama series, said that he was excluded by the production committee.
Al Atrash also said that he was not present for the filming of the scenes and that the producers did not adhere to the conditions of the contract between them.
Al Atrash, a family member of the late singer, said that the drama series included several false statements about Asmahan.
Producer Ismail Kutkut said that the drama series is not a historic drama series.
The Al Atrash family will hold a press conference to address how the drama series “Asmahan” has damaged their family history, a family the whole Arab world is proud of, they claim.
