Nour El Sharif walks in the footsteps of President Yasser Arafat
Posted: 01-12-2004 , 12:33 GMT
Prominent Egyptian actor Nour El Sharif has announced that he plans on presenting the life story of the late Palestinian President, whom he was very good friends with, in a new film. Nour revealed that he video taped the funeral ceremony held for the President in Egypt and Ramallah in order to use them in the film, which he will begin work on once the morning period is over.

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Nour stressed that he will seek a good scenarist to write the script of the film once he completes collecting all the needed research on the President’s life.
It was added that once a scenario is written he will move on to nominating stars from around the Arab world to take part in the film, which still has not found a source for funding it.

Nour stressed that he has not yet found a source for producing and funding the film and is waiting until he completes all the necessary details to be able to decide on an appropriate budget. Sharif revealed that he is confused on the issue of direction whereas some have advised him to direct the film himself, while others stressed that he should seek a professional director with past experience in similar works in order for Nour to fully dedicate himself on the role he will play in the film.

Nour will play the role of Yasser during the last years of his journey specifically from the point where was under siege for thirty months in Ramallah. On a similar note, Nour had previously started working on making a movie about the late Hamas leader Al Sheikh Yaseen, who was assassinated by the Israelis, but had halted the project due to his occupation with different works.
