Hanan Turk mentally retarded
Posted: 08-01-2005 , 12:19 GMT

Egyptian actress Hanan Turk is getting ready for her challenging role as a hananmentally retarded girl in the new television series "Sarah." The drama series will start a number of Egyptian actors such as Tareq Lutfi, Sawsan Bader, and Ahmad Riziq, which will be produced by Shireen Adel.

Hanan is having private sessions with Shireen Adel the producer to look over her role. She is trying to study real cases of people who are mentally retarded. She wants to fully understand the behavior of a mentally retarded person. Hanan has been shied away from television; she has turned away many offers. The drama series "Sarah" seems different to Hanan; therefore, she accepted the offer without hesitation.

Besides having successful leading roles in films and in television drama series, Hanan had started in a music video. The new clip she filmed with prominent Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher. The actress stress that her participation was not marked a unique one and she appeared as any other model that acts in a music video

El Saher had chosen Hanan for the leading role in his music video "Ahibini" (Love Me), which is written by the late renowned Lebanese poet Nizar Qabani. The song is from his latest album "Ila Tilmethuh" (To His Student).

Your web site, one I read on daily basis, says to keep remarks civil. I will do so happily but how ''civil'' is it to call mentally challenged people mentally retarded?: The term mental retardation is concidered as offensive as the N word is to African Americans. Worse yet it's a disease that we, in the arab world, take all too lightly in many movies and particularly in soap operas. Since you appeal to a younger readership I should think it wise to exercise more responsilbity in the terms you use. Thank you for your attention
