An Israeli journalist wrote an article in the “Hairsts” newspaper on the affect that “Bab Al Hara” (Neighborhood Door) Syrian drama series had on Israeli Arabs of 48. He sees that the Arabs of 48 still have to some extent the same life style as to whats being played out in “Bab Al Hara” even after being occupied by Israel for over 60 years. 
The journalist also adds that when the series was shown on television during the holy month of Ramadan. streets become empty and Mosque clerks even cut prayers so people could go and watch the series.
According to the London daily Elaph, “Bab Al Hara” was watched not only by Muslim Arabs, there are Christians, Jews and Druz were addicted to it as well. The Syrian producer of the drama Basam Al Mala was able to make it strong and affective by playing the simple life style of how our Arab ancestors used to live.
Many of the Arab men if they are not watching “Bab Al Hara” from their homes were watching it at local cafes. Women and kids were also hooked to the television set when the series started and they wouldn’t take their eyes off. Many of the series watchers hope to live back the simple life again where neighbors respect and help each other, and when sons and daughters alike help out their parents and obeyed their wishes. The drama gave people a sense of unities and strong family ties.
