The new film “Baby Doll Night,” directed by Adel Adeeb, will appear in the Cannes Film Festival. Production Company “Goodnews” pushed for the film to appear at such an important cinema event. The film will be shown twice during the festival. The stars of the film will travel to France on the May14.
According to the London daily Elaph, the leading stars Mahmoud Abed Al Aziz and Nour Al Sharif will be first on the list to go to the festival alongside actors Laila Elwi, Rubi, Solaf Fawakhirji, and Jamal Suleiman. The crew of the film and a number of journalists will also travel to France to join celebration. The production company will host a celebration for the first international showing of the film.
The film will be shown on May 16 at the “Star 2” movie theater which is the largest theater at the Kan Festival. After the first showing there will be a celebration at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, hosted by the famous journalist Imad Al Deen Adeeb in memory of his late father, the writer Abed Al Hai Adeeb. “Baby Doll Night” was the last film written by the late writer. The second showing of the film will take place on May 19 at the same theater.
“Baby Doll Night” has the highest budget amongst Egyptian films at 40 million Egyptian Pounds.
The film revolves around a tour guide guy who comes to Cairo, who tires to meet with his wife. The meeting fails, because the tourists are threatened by terrorists who are led by an ex-prisoner of “Abu Ghraib Prison” in Iraq.
Director Adel Adeeb said that torture scenes were not edited from the film so that it could enter the festival.
