A continent is a continuous unit of landmass. There are seven continents on Earth and they cover about 30% of its surface. Continents are in constant movement. They move at a rate of a few centimeters every year, this is known as the continental drift. More than 300 million years ago, there was only one huge continent, known as Pangaea.
