The unit of frequency for waves, Hertz, is named after the German physicist Heinrich Hertz (1857-1894). The unit is used for sound waves, and also for other waves, such as radio and light waves.
Hertz was the first scientist to make radio waves in a laboratory experiment. Unfortunately Hertz died before he could expand his work and make radio into a practical form of communication.© 2007 Al Bawaba (www.albawaba.com)
