Archimedes was one of the greatest Greek scientists (287-212 BC). Among his many achievements was inventing the hydraulic screw, known as Archimedes’ screw.

Archimedes’ screw is used to raise water from one level to another. It is made of an inclined cylinder that encases a broad-threaded screw.
First Archimedes’ screw is introduced into a body of water, and then the screw is rapidly turned, so the water rises from whorl to whorl.
