The Sun’s heat turns some of the water in the oceans, seas, rivers and lakes into vapor. The vapor gathers together and forms clouds. At the temperatures below freezing some of the water vapor becomes solid, forming tiny crystals. These crystals are called snowflakes, and no two crystals are the same. But all snowflakes patterns are based on a hexagonal (six sided) design.
