To make the sauce you will need:

 

·        1 small onion

·        1 tablespoon tomato paste

·        1 can of tomatoes

·        Salt and pepper (to taste)

·        To make the dough you will need:

·        1½ cups (150g-5.3oz) self raising flour

·        ½ cup (50g-1.75oz) butter

·        ½ cup (50g-1.75oz) grated cheese

·        3-4 tablespoons milk

·        A pinch of salt

 

For the topping you will need:

·        Grated cheese, sliced mushrooms, stoned black olives, sliced pepper…etc

·        Cutting board and knife

·        Saucepan

·        Wooden spoon

·        Sieve

·        Knife

·        Mixing bowl

·        Rolling pin

·        Greased baking tray

 

Directions:

·        Preheat the oven to 220 Celsius (425 Fahrenheit -Gas mark 7).

·        Peel the onion, cut it in half and finely chop it.

·        Put the chopped onion, salt and pepper, tomatoes, and tomato paste in the saucepan. Stir well.

·        Put the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat on low.

·        Cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat and set aside.

·        Sift the flour and salt into the mixing bowl.

·        Add the butter and cut it up into small pieces.

·        With your fingertips, rub the flour and butter together until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs. Add the grated cheese and milk.

·        Mix everything together well, until you have a big ball of dough.

·        Divide your dough into two balls.

·        Sprinkle some flour on your working top and rolling pin.

·        Roll out each ball of dough into a circular shape, about 10cm (4in) across.

·        Place your dough on the greased baking tray.

·        Spread out the tomato sauce evenly on them.

·        Add your choice of toppings.

·        Bake in the top half of the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
