Reptiles lay eggs, and dinosaurs were reptiles so they also laid eggs. Most dinosaurs laid their eggs in nests, some even built their nests together. Every year, dinosaurs went back to the same nesting ground to lay their eggs.
Each nest was a large round hole that was dug in the ground. When the nest was ready the female dinosaur laid her eggs in it and then covered them with a thick layer of plants to keep them warm. The dinosaur mother had to stay alert all the time to protect her eggs from other dinosaurs who tried to snatch and eat them.
After many weeks the eggs hatched and little baby dinosaurs came out!© 2006 Al Bawaba (www.albawaba.com)
