In 1893, Mr. Henry D. Perky of Denver, Colorado in the USA was the first to come up with the idea of making ready prepared breakfast cereals after meeting a man who ate boiled wheat soaked in milk every morning to nurse his stomach pain.
But it was Will Keith Kellogg who popularized breakfast cereals in 1898. At night Will worked for his elder brother in a hospital kitchen in Michigan boiling wheat in an effort to find a digestible substitute for bread.
One day in 1894, after accidentally leaving a batch of boiled wheat to stand, the brothers tried again and modern day breakfast cereal was born. Granose Flakes were launched in 1894 and in 1898 it became Corn Flakes.
