The non-stick pan was invented by accident. In 1954 Marc Gregoire, a French research engineer, was trying to perfect his fishing rods when he discovered the processes which make it possible to encrust metal with Teflon.
In 1956, he founded the Tefal company and with his patents applied to kitchen utensils he went on to produce the most famous frying pan in the world.
