Who Discovered Gravity?
Posted: 22-07-2006 , 06:22 GMT

Gravity is a force that we hardly think about. But it is gravity that holds things to the Earth’s surface and prevents things from falling off into the atmosphere.

The story started when Issac Newton was sitting under an apple tree in his garden and an apple fell down. Newton wondered why it fell downward and why it did not float up into the sky? Newton realized that there is a strong force pulling things towards Earth. He called this force gravity. Today we measure force in units known as newtons named after Issac Newton.
