In 1903, The thumbtack was invented by Mr. Johann Kirsten, a clockmaker from Germany. Johann sold the rights to his new invention to a businessman , Mr. Otto Lindstedt.
Mr. Otto Lindstedt received a patent for the thumbtack on January 1904. With this patent Mr. Lindstedt became a rich man but Mr. Kirsten, the inventor, died poor!
