Egypt refuses to change its mind about Najla
Posted: 19-02-2006 , 19:49 GMT

The Egyptian Musician Association has announced that it is very serious in its fight against pornographic music videos such as the ones by Tunisian singer Najla, and it intends on forming a committee that will be responsible for trying to convince different music channels that air such videos in stopping them. It was argued that such music videos are an insult to Arab music.n

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, head of the association Hassan Abu Su’ood has revealed that the association does not have specified and convincing mechanisms to take on such a mission and its power does not cover any television stations beside the Egyptian ones.

The news of Najla’s banning from Egypt was a rumor at first, but was validated when an Egyptian newspaper revealed that the singer was held at the airport for 12 hours endlessly trying all means to get permission to enter Egypt.

None of the singer’s contacts in Egypt were able to help her out and give her passage way into the country. It was revealed that the decision of Najla’s banning was made to please a number of extreme parliament members that had attacked the manner of Najla’s method in filming her video clips, especially the extremely seductive one of the horse.

Hassan added that the decision regarding the banning of Najla is firm and there is no going back on it. He added that Najla under no circumstance will ever be allowed to sing in Egypt again.

The recent banning of Najla from entering Egypt has led her to seek residence in Lebanon. Najla stressed that in Lebanon she is free to move as she pleases without being condemned for her manner in singing. Najla was seen walking the streets of Lebanon accompanied by her bodyguards and is said to reside in an apartment west of Beirut.

WALLAHI BRAVO 3ALEEKY YA MASR! a7san akhbar i've heard so far. If the banning of all seductive and pornographic music videos continues in Egypt, I think we're actually going to be able to focus on the more important things in life, besides partial nudity and seduction, and begin to advance as a country. » Porn is Redundant Anyway

In a region where poverty makes so much of the population exploitable anyway, porn isn't needed on television. It's a bit overboard to ban a woman from a country when there are men who go to Egypt to marry poor women and then throw them away. They are the ones who should be banned...those who leave behind babies with no citizenship. They are causing more damage than one loose woman petting a horse.
