A U.S. Marine was killed in action Saturday south of Baghdad, the U.S. military said. The death took place in Babil province.

Meanwhile, a US soldier was killed and three wounded Thursday in a bomb attack on a military convoy in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the US military revealed. "One Task Force Olympia soldier was killed and three were wounded after their patrol was hit by a roadside bomb January 13," a statement said Saturday.

Another US soldier was killed the same day in the city in a separate incident.
