According to AFP, the first bomb exploded around 8:00 am (local time) in the Karrada neighborhood in central Baghdad and killed one policeman and injured 12 others. As bystanders gathered, a second bomb went off, killing two more civilians and wounding 10 others.

Among the injured were a photographer and cameraman from the Associated Press.

North of Baghdad, in the city of Baquba, gunmen shot dead a merchant selling children's clothes in the city's main market.
