Posted: 12-05-2008 , 08:37 GMT

lebanon sniperHeavy clashes have erupted between coalition leader Saad Harriri's followers and anti-government supporters in a region on Lebanon border with Syria. Supporters of Hariri, clashed with anti-government supporters in al-Masna area on Lebanon-Syria border.

According to press reports, the clashes have blocked the road to al-Masna crossing into Syria, opening fire on cars on several occasions over the two past days. Al-Masna is the key crossing on the Lebanon-Syria border.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Red Cross announced on Monday that 12 bodies and 26 wounded people have been pulled out from the area between Shweifat Aley all the way up to the Chouf mountains. This area saw intense fighting until Lebanese troops deployed there late Sunday. Earlier, Shiites loyal to Lebanese opposition led by Hizbullah battled Druze supporters of the ruling coalition.
