‘The Promise’ Portrays Syrian Intellectuals’ Life
Syrian director Essa Haddad has recently finished directing the new TV series al Waa’d (The Promise) scripted by Marwan Nasseh.
The Scenarist told the daily Syria Times that the series deals with the question of compromises that take place in the world of intellectuals.
Actor Kamal al Bunni plays the role of an ambitious theatre director who seeks to gain ground and establish himself among prominent directors. But his ambition is obstructed because of the difficulties of life and routine.
Actor Najah Safouni plays the role of Dr Salim who is a widower university teacher who establishes a love relation with one of his students. This relation causes him many problems.
Azza al Bahra plays the role of the secretary of Dr. Salim. She loves him, but Salim does not exchange her love.
