The entire cast of the television drama series "Al Ameel 1001" (Agent 1001) was absent from the press conference held at the Journalists Association specifically to discuss the reasons behind its elimination from the marathon of Ramadan television dramas.

Based on a true story, the series is a spy thriller, staring Mustafa Shabaan, Nelly Kareem, Riham Abdul Ghafour, and Razan Moughrabi, and returns to the style of the old fashioned spy dramas.

The press conference was cancelled only 75 minutes beforehand, and sources claimed the cast was not in attendance due to a misunderstanding between the organizers of the conference and the press.

Other sources claimed that the cast was unable to make the conference since they were still filming the final scenes of the drama, however neither the producer nor the writer were in attendance.  Outdoor scenes of the drama were filmed on location in Morocco, Turkey, Cyprus and Greece.

The writer did file a complaint with the Minister of Information against the Egyptian Television Network for overlooking the drama, and excluding it from the Ramadan television line-up.

Razan Moughrabi plays the role of a Greek girl who meets an Egyptian spy played by Egyptian actor Yousef Shabaan. She helps him complete his mission by granting him entry into Israel, and throughout the course of events, falls in love with the secret agent.
