Under the banner Haser Hisarak (Besiege Your Siege), Lebanese singer Majidah al Roomi will sing Sunday evening in Beirut as part of a major event in solidarity with the Palestinians. The prominent Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish will participate in the event, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The ceremony will be held at the Sports City in Beirut, which can accommodate about 50,000 persons who will meet to listen to poems by Mahmoud Darwish and songs by Roomi and Ahmed Qaabour.
Darwish arrived in Beirut last Thursday from Amman and he is expected to participate later in another grouping as part of the activities of the Book Exhibition to be held in the northern Lebanese City of Tripoli.
The concert will be open to the public and free depending on the donations, which will be deposited in boxes throughout the Sports City in order to support the Palestinians.
The ground and satellite channels of Abu Dhabi and Future TVs have bought the rights of live airing of the events to be organized by 300 young men and women.
