Kuwaiti screenwriter and producer Fajr al Said has tapped the Egyptian director Magdi Abu A’mirah for directing her new TV series Thaman Omri (Price of My Life), according to the London-based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The series tackles the woman’s role in the society and the mother’s sacrifices for the sake of her family and children and the rewards that she gets back for these sacrifices. It is scheduled to be aired by the Kuwaiti TV next Ramadan.
Kuwaiti actresses Hayat al Fahed and Merriam al Saleh have been nominated to play the starring roles in the series along with the other artists who have recently played roles in the series scripted by al Said including Mshari al Ballam, Ahmed al Salman and Zahra al Kharji.
The cooperation between al Said and Abu A’mirah has come to enhance the relation which the former has recently established with the Egyptian TV Production Department. Said and the cast of her latest series Jorh al Zaman (Time Wound) received a warm welcome by the Egyptian TV when they visited it to inaugurate their series airing by the Nile Drama Channel marking the first Kuwaiti TV series that appear on an Egyptian screen.
The cooperation between the Kuwaiti drama and Egyptian directors goes back to the early sixties. Among the Egyptian directors who cooperated with the Kuwaiti dramas were late Hamdi Farid who directed the masterpiece Darb al Zalag and Yousef Hammoudah but Abu A’mirah is considered the most prominent Egyptian director in this respect -- Albawaba.com
