‘Robbery by Memory’ Depicts Smuggling Egyptian Antiquities Abroad
The director Hasan al Saifi is gearing up for shooting his new film al Satw Bil Thakerah (Robbery by Memory) which tackles the issue of smuggling Egyptian antiquities abroad.
Costarring in the film Gamil Rateb, Hanan Shawqi and Tareq Lutfi.
“The film is the second cinema production in the history of the Egyptian cinema after al Mumiaa (Mummy) by Shadi Abdel Salam which tackles seriously the issue of smuggling Egyptian antiquities abroad away from emotions, comedy and funny situations like other films,” the screenwriter, Mohammed Safaa Amer told the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
He added, “the film’s events are based on real stories taken from the antiquities cases’ archives. It is about a ring specializing in stealing antiquities and forging antique paintings by replacing the real with fake ones. An Egyptian officer managed to penetrate into the gang and catch some of its members red handed. Shooting the film is expected to begin at the end of this month -- Albawaba.com
