‘Thunderbolt’: TV Drama Based on Egyptian Intelligence Files

The Egyptian Media Production City is gearing up to begin shooting the grand drama series al Sae’qa (Thunderbolt) which tackles the heroic actions of the Egyptian Intelligence officers and their ability to penetrate through the Israeli al Mossad Agency. 

The series tells the story of the young Egyptian Hisham who works as a wireless officer for Egypt Air’s London office where Mossad agents tried to recruit him exploiting his bad need of money for treating his mother. But Hisham is aware of these attempts and so he immediately contacts the Egyptian National Security Agency in order to set a counter plan. Then October War, the painful surprise, which hit Israel like a thunderbolt, takes place. 

The series was scripted by Mustafa Muharram based on a story by Ibrahim Nafe’, which is based on the Egyptian intelligence files and directed by Mohammed Abdel Aziz who succeeded late Yahya al Alami. 

The head of the Media Production City, Abdel Rahman Hafez revealed that all the necessary resources would be allocated for the series in order to be produced in the best possible honoring manner. “Also a hefty budget was allocated for the series in view of the fact that it is one of the most important dramas about the Egyptian heroism,” added Hafez.  

“Events highlight the superiority of the Egyptian intelligence officers and their ability to penetrate through the Israeli Mossad,” Mustafa Moharram told the daily al Ahram. 

For his part the series director said, “a large number of stars have been tapped to take the leading roles in the series including Omar al Sherif, Hussein Fahmi, Mahmoud Hemaidah, Hisham Abdel Hamid, Mageda Zaki and Khaled Serhan.” -- Albawaba.com
