Abdul Qasem Lauded for Radio Series
Palestinian actor Abdul Rahman Abul Qasem recently won the prize for Best Actor at the 7th Cairo Festival for Radio and TV.
He snared the award for his radio series Abdel Rahman Al Ghafiqi, which depicts the life story of the Muslim leader who led the Islamic conquests in Europe.
He started his acting career in 1945 as a secondary school student, taking part in various theatrical performances including The Revolution of the Slaves and A People That Never Dies.
He was appointed director of the Palestinian National Theatre for a long period of time. He is currently trying to revive the Palestinian theater scene through a new performance entitled The Hill of the Feast.
According to the Syria Times, Abul Qasem said that he could not stop his work on the first comprehensive school of art, in which he learned the techniques of acting.
He said he believed in the message of theater, especially in the old Arab society that “suffers from many problems.”
In the field of TV drama, he has played a lot of successful roles, especially historical ones.
As far as cinema is concerned, Abul Qasem took part in a feature film dealing with the Palestine question and the start of resistance operations against the forces of occupation.
He has also taken part in the feature film the Neigh of Directions and The Spirit of Soul.
An art critic said that Abu Al Qassem was a comprehensive actor from whom the young generation of actors should benefit in order to refine their talents – Albawaba.com
