Egyptian actress Abla Kamel is currently playing the role of a fortuneteller consulted by the village ladies for advice on marital problems.

When the truth about the fortuneteller comes out – namely, that she has no idea what she’s talking about – her disgruntled clients chase her into hiding.

Kamel plays this role in the new series Hadith Al Sabah Wal Masaa (Morning and Evening Speech), which director Ahmed Saqer is currently filming. The basis for the series was written by Egypt’s Nobel prizewinner Najeeb Mahfouz and costars Laila Ulwi, Ahmed Rateb and Tareq Dusouqi.

This is Kamel’s first stab at this kind of role, she told the daily Al Sharq Al Awsat, after previously appearing as a con artist, an oppressed individual, an aristocrat, a simple peasant, etc.

Kamel also appears in the series Al Barr Al Gharbi (Western Land), directed by Ismael Abdel Hafez, which will be aired during the upcoming Ramadan season. Kamel plays the character of Rahma from Upper Egypt and wife of Erfan Al Jarihi (played by Farouq Al Fishawi). She remains faithful to her husband, who lives abroad for many years - Albawaba.com
