In the past, the place for competition between different famous singers of all kind and made Cairo nights extra special during Ramadan was the Ramadan Tents. Those tents brought great income during the holy month. This year the Ramadan Tents are not as popular as they once were for one many of the famous singers are staying away from them.
There are a large number of well-known singers like Amer Diab, Muhammad Fouad, Ehab Tawfiq, Hisham Abbas, Mustafa Qamar, Hamada Hialal and many more are had refused to accept any offer to sing in these tents and preferred to stay away, where once they were the ones who made these tents possible and very popular among their fans.
According to the London daily Elaph, the economy has nothing to do with the lack of interest in those tents on the contrary; the main reason is that famous singers are asking for too much money in order to hold performances. For example famous Amr Diab asked for 600 thousands Egyptian Pounds,
Muhammad Fouad asked for 500 thousands E.P.
The other reason behind the shift of popularity is that many singers are putting their singing career on hold for a while during Ramadan and they are turning to worship and making Omrah “pilgrim to Mecca”. Most of these singers are making it a trend for themselves to go once every year to Omrah during the holy month of Ramadan.
Since the famous singers are staying away from the Ramadan Tents this year, new and rising singer replaced them in order to fill in. The new singers were asking for little amount of money compared to the big stars.
On the other hand the new singers Muhammad Hamqi who is getting 100 thousands E.P. and Tamer Husni who is getting 150 thousand E.P. were satisfied with the payment, yet the tents owners lost lots of money from these tents. People are turning away from these tents, because the famous singers were behind their survival. Many owners were forced to bring down their tents and calling it quits rather than loosing large amount of money over them.
