The Egyptian artist Shahinaz has decided to come out of retirement and return to the music industry.
Shahinaz decided to retire two years ago after she began wearing a ‘Hijab’ (Muslim women’s head cover).
During an interview with the Egyptian newspaper “Sawt Al Omah” (The Voice of the People), Shahinaz said, “Society is not used to the idea of seeing an artist who is wearing a ‘Hijab’ and that this controversial matter should be gradually accepted.”
Shahinaz also said that change is possible and women present, sing and act while wearing a ‘Hijab’ in Muslim societies that will not allow women to appear without a head covering.
Shahinaz began her music career seven years ago after winning a music talent show.
