Known for his outstanding roles in Gamal Abdul Nasser and Anwar Al Sadat, Egyptian star Ahmed Zaki announced yesterday that he will be getting back to the big screen next year with a new movie tackling the life of Egypt's legendary singer, Abdul Halim Hafiz.
The Kuwaiti daily, Al Watan, reported on Thursday that Zaki's announcement came in a press conference held in Tunisia following his honoring at the 19th Cartage Film Festival. The star explained that the movie will only tackle Abdul Halim's personal and humanitarian side, and added that he will start an intensive diet to loose 15 kgs.
"All through my acting career I tried to focus on embodying well known figures in Egypt. It wasn't easy for me to do this, but yet it added a huge success to my portfolio," said Zaki.
The 19th Cartage Film Festival, which kicked off on October 18, honored star Ahmed Zaki with the screening of some of his smash hit movies. It started with the movie "Ayyam Al Sadat" (Days of Sadat), and continued with "Zawgat Ragol Mohimm" (Wife of a VIP). The management of the festival said that other movies for the Egyptian star, like "Dhid Al Hukoomah" (Against Government), "Al Huroob" (The Escape), "Al Hobb Fawk Hadhabat Al Haram" (Love on the Pyramid), will be screened throughout the 10-day festival.
Egypt participates in the festival’s official contest with two movies, "Muwaten, Mukhber Wa Harami" (Citizen, Detective and Thief), starring Khaled Abul Naja, pop singer Shaaban Abdul Rahim, and Tunisian actress Hind Sabri, and the movie "Al Saher" (The Magician), starring Mahmoud Abdul Aziz and Salwa Khattab. – Albawaba.com
