Prominent Egyptian actor Ahmad Sakka threatened to withdraw from his latest movie “Al-7ares” (The Guard) if the production company insists on giving Ruby the female leading part. The leading part was suppose to be given to Tunisian actress Hind Sabri who apologized because she is busy preparing for her Master’s degree in law.
Ahmad nominated Dalia Biheri to act beside him but he was surprised that the production company contacted Ruby to take the part. Ruby gave her initial agreement to do the part.
The movie is also suffering lots of legal disputes regarding the scenario. Scenarist Ayman Abdulrahman filed a lawsuit against the author of the movie Azza Shalabi stating that she stole the script, which he wrote two years ago. Azza Shalabi insisted that she is the writer and said that she will give enough documents to prove that.
A Cairo court has cancelled a lawsuit against Ruby, which was filed by musician Ahmad Al Jabali demanding that all the singer’s entertainment activity must be halted. The court’s decision came after Ahmad and his attorney failed to show up for the hearing and so dropped the case and charges against Ruby.
Al Jabali had demanded 5 million Egyptian pounds in compensation from the singer stressing that she had signed a contract with him in 1997 giving him full rights to all her entertainment activities, and making any other contract signed since that period invalid.
The contract has been automatically extended for five years, based on a condition in the contract that states an extension for five years will be made unless one of the two parties states otherwise. Neither Ruby nor Ahmad had requested otherwise and so the extension occurred giving Ahmad rights to Ruby’s activities until the year 2009.
Ruby finally had her first interview on Mazzika satellite music channel, and surprised her fans with her shallowness. Millions of fans in the Arab world could see Ruby as a naïve reluctant and even closer to stupidity from the way she was answering the questions. The fans were not expecting their star to be cultured or well educated but at least to have a minimum level of common sense of the ability to answer easy and common questions. –Albawaba.com
