Ahmed Maher plays Othella on stage
Egyptian actor Ahmed Maher plays the role of Othells in Shakespeare’s famous tragedy translated by Khalil Mutran and directed by Mohammed al Khuli.
The play is currently staged at al Hanager Theater in Cairo.
Costarring in the performance, along with Maher, are Dunia Abdullah, Mufid Ashur, Manal Zaki, Abdel Salam Dahshan, Yaser Farag and Mohammed Rihan.
The decoration was designed by Muhyi Fahmi, interpretive dances by Magdi al Zaqaziqi and music by Mursi al Khattab.
However, the late actor George Abiad has been the first Egyptian actor who performed the role of Othello in a performance which he directed. Among the most famous Egyptian actors who performed the role is Hamdi Ghaith who also directed it – Albawaba.com
