Alam El Phan recently released a new album for Syrian singer Asalah Nasri, titled “Bain Al Amal Wal Khouf” (Between Hope and Fear), featuring ten songs sung in the Syrian, Gulf, and Egyptian dialects. The album is a compilation of newly released music and songs from previous albums.
The album, donning the Alam El Phan Production Company logo on the cover, features a dreadful picture of Asalah, created with poor computer graphics.
According to the Saudi based daily, Al Riyadh, despite the poor recording quality of the songs, the album was released to the public and is being sold for the same retail price as any other quality album.
The release of the CD is considered to be a direct attack against the singer by Alam El Phan for signing a contract with competitor Rotana. However, it is unclear why an album for Asalah would be released by Alam El Phan at all, considering the singer ended her contract with them and signed a new one with Rotana. Alam El Phan has declined to comment.
Fans of the singer, who immediately bought the album, were shocked when they heard the CD and could not believe that the singer would consent to such a recording.
Sources revealed that Asalah signed the contract with Rotana during a special ceremony in Dubai. Negotiations between Asalah and Rotana had been going on and off for the past three years until an agreement was finally reached.
The contract is for three years and the company will have the sole rights to producing all of the singer’s albums and music videos. Asalah stated that she is pleased to become the 103rd member of the Rotana family.
Asalah announced that she has three works ready for release, and the CD that was launched by Alam El Phan is not one of them.
