Egyptian singer Mustafa Amar, who is currently visiting Algeria for the first time, sang at a big concert at the Antiquities Theater in the Roman City as part of the International Timgad Festival, according to the UAE daily Al Bayan.
Amar also performed at another concert at the Sidi Jaber tourist site west of the Algerian capital, where he was surprised by thousands of Algerians who had memorized his songs and sang along.
Responding to a question on whether he expected such a success in the Arab North African country, Amar said, “I have discovered an interconnection between me and this audience, as if I’ve known them for a long time.”
Amar’s concerts boosted his audiences and the demand for his albums in Algeria.
The star did not rule out the possibility of singing Algeria’s famous “rai” music, reiterating that this type of singing had taken Arabic song to international fame. He described “rai” as the engine pulling Arabic song, with all of its Egyptian, Gulf and Lebanese styles, around the world - Albawaba.com
