Ali Baba takes Wael Kfoury to Hollywood
Lebanese singer Wael Kfoury has signed a contract with Hollywood to star in the new film "Ali Baba" alongside internationally-known actor Antonio Bandares. The film falls under the action genre and is scheduled to be filmed in the United States of America, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Kfoury's office asserted that the singer had received several offers to star in different films, but he was only convinced with this one and so decided to accept the role.
Kfoury had previously revealed that rumors regarding the possibility of him taking part in the film alongside Antonio are true. Wael stressed that he did not wish to give out any details regarding the film, wanting to wait until an agreement is final between both sides.
The singer had said that the rumor was not a joke while he was guest on the Lebanese Broadcasting Company (LBC) satellite channel weekly show “Sa’a Bi Kurb Al Habib” (An Hour By My Lover’s Side), adding that the matter is very serious and needs more time to be implemented.
Kfoury has announced the renewal of his contract with the Music Production Company Rotana for an additional three years. The singer signed the agreement at Rotana’s Lebanon regional office, and had expressed his joy saying that he is very hopeful of the prospects of the contract.
Wael recently held a number of concerts at different festivals in Tunisia that were unfortunately marked with failure, leaving the singer in a state of utter despair. One of the main reasons behind the failure of the performances was the lack of enough advertising for the concerts and the fact that people in Tunisia are not well acquainted with Wael.
Another reason behind the tragic failure was the fact that an incomplete band accompanied the singer due to the lack of enough time to make prior flight reservations for all the members. The incident is a first of its kind and is mainly the fault of his administration team, who did not plan ahead to present the singer in the picture he deserves to be presented in.
Many speculations resulted from the incident that left a black spot in the singer's career, and gave a bad image of him in front of the Tunisian audience. Organizers of Wael's concerts had stressed that the singer's performances witnessed such a mishap due to the fact that Wael was not given enough time to rest since his arrival in Tunisian. –Albawaba.com
