The recording of the operetta Muftaraq Al Turoq (Road Junctions) has begun, featuring six performances by eight singers, as well as a collective show, according to the daily Al Gomhuria.
Performing in the operetta, written by Sayyed Hegab and composed by Ammar Al Sherea’i, are singers Tareq Fuad, Mohammed Al Hilo, Mohammed Al Ezabi, Ahmed Ibrahim, Agfan Al Amir, May Farouk, Shaima Said and Anoshka.
The operetta, which will be performed as part of the October celebrations, will depict the Egyptian people's struggle throughout the ages, including the 1967 and 1973 wars with Israel.
Ballet dancer Nadin, whose costumes were chosen by Samia Abdel Aziz, will perform a show choreographed by Magdi Saber and with a set by Riwayah Bayyad, that will link the operetta shows.
The second part of the event will include four new songs to be performed for the first time by Egypt’s superstar vocalist Amal Maher. The songs were written by poet Omar Bteshah and composed by Ammar Al Sherea’i.
The first song is a patriotic tune, while the other three are romantic ballads. One of these is a pop number entitled Elli Ma’ah Al Amar Mayhimmosh Al Nugoom (Whoever Has the Moon, Doesn’t Care about Stars), the second is Min Zayyak (Who is Like You) and the third is Gharibah (Strange).
“Amal Maher will take off Umm Kulthoom’s cloak in this concert and perform in her own style and sing her own songs,” said Egyptian Radio director Omar Betaishah - Allbawaba.com
