Egyptian singer Amr Diab has suddenly found himself accused by a young singer, Sharif Hamdi, of ripping off his new song Wala A’la Baloh (Not in His Mind).

The young singer even claims that Diab stole another song entitled Khallast Fik Kulil Kalam (I’ve Finished All the Talk About You) two years ago, and said that he would resort to the courts.

Composer Mohammed Rahim told Akhbar Al Nujoum magazine, “the tunes I provided Amr Diab with are different completely from the ones I sold to Hamdi. I have the right to use my own tunes for any song. These are my own features which may recur in more than one musical work.”

Meanwhile, the producer of Diab’s album, Mohsen Jaber, said: “The one who is mistaken in this matter is composer Mohammed Rahim. Had we known that he had previously sold the tunes, we wouldn’t have recorded the song. I have referred the matter to the company’s legal department.”

However, some observers say that Hamdi, being a young singer just starting out, may have sought fame and free publicity with his claims at the expense of the renowned older singer - Albawaba.com
