Amr Diab to make his debut on the small screen

Egyptian pop-star Amr Diab has signed a contract with one of the television production company to star in a new drama series, on the condition that all preparations are done in complete secrecy. Amr refused to reveal any details regarding the new drama stressing that he wants his debut on the silver screen to be a surprise to all his fans.

The singer is currently preparing for his upcoming album by holding extensive working sessions with poets and composers. Amr has laid down the basic guidelines he will follow in his new album in order to complete it in the soonest time possible.

In a rare instance of its kind, Amr had ordered the forbiddance of certain journalists from his press conference held in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Dubai immediately after his performance at the Dubai Nights festival. The singer had specifically demanded that a journalist from Al Ettihad Newspaper be banned from the conference after she had written some negative criticism about him in one of her articles.

The journalist was informed by the organizers of the festival that Amr does not wish her to be present at the press conference and so she was banned from entering. The singer’s actions made the journalist go into a rage stating that he violated her freedom of press and insulted her and other journalists.
