Egyptian scenarist Midhat Al Adel has denied circulating rumors that Egyptian pop-singer Amr Diab had withdrew from the film “Al Mutamarid” (The Rebel). The film, which Midhat is currently in the process of writing, tells the journey of Amr from his beginning until the present.

According to the London based weekly, Laha, Midhat stressed that Amr is very enthusiastic about the film and there are contracts between them that enable Midhat to complete the script without any fears. Many had speculated that Amr had withdrew from the film after being offered to play a role in a film by Syrian director Mustafa Al Akkad, but the latter denied any such news.

The film is to be shot between Cairo and Beirut and Amr is scheduled to begin preparations for it once the script is complete. The singer had previously postponed all work for the film with Adel until he completed his latest album. Both men had plans to begin many different film projects, but they all were put on hold and never completed. The last film the singer starred in was “Dahik Wi Li’ib Wi Jad Wi Hub” (Laugh and Play, Serious and Love).

Amr has just completed the recording of a new duet with internationally known singer Jennifer Lopez. Amr also appeared in a new soft drink commercial with Jennifer. Amr revealed that he is currently preparing to film the song “Wahashtini” in the form of a music video in Lebanon under the direction of international director. The singer stressed that the song will have a slow romantic theme to it.
