Angham prefers seclusion these days
After the recent incident Egyptian singer Angham has faced at one of her concerts, she decided to isolate herself home, refusing to perform any concert or answer any phone call.
Angham has faced a “shocking act” at the eighth Cairo International Song Festival, which kicked off August 20, when the management of the festival has drawn down the curtains while she was still performing on stage. The singer had earlier given the nod for performing at the opening ceremony of the festival through singing a long series of songs.
“The management of the festival is bound by a fixed time to end up her concert, Angham’s orchestra was late and thus we were spurred to cut from her concert to wrap up the first day of the festival on time,” one the management officials has commented.
Proving that even artists can get involved in the political issues in the region, singer Angham participated in the charity concert the Egyptian Opera House held last May. The celebration, in which a huge number of Arab and Egyptian artists participated, had come as part of the efforts made on both public and official levels to provide support for the Palestinian brothers.
The two-hour concert, held under the patronage of the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's wife Suzan Mubarak, has raised around two million dollars offering urgent medical and humanitarian aid for the Palestinians. – Albawaba.com
